North American Cannon was founded in 2011 in a small detached shed no larger than 120 sq. ft. in size. Today, NAC is still a small business located in a 400 sq. ft. shop in southern New Hampshire. In 2011, the shop was outfitted with nothing more than an antique 10” South Bend lathe, a heavy-duty drill press and several dozen metal-smithing hand tools and measuring devices, like analog calipers and micrometers. Today, the equipment is a bit newer, a bit larger and digital. The same metal-smithing hand tools still clutter all flat surfaces arranged in an “organized chaos” throughout the shop. With the exception of a CNC engraver / mill and fiber laser, there’s no high-volume production equipment or a punch-clock tracking the amount of time spent on building each item. NAC is essentially the space where a hardworking mortgage paying passionate Veteran with decades of metal fab & machining experience spends his time making heavy shiny metal things that make loud booms for fun. I do not follow traditional blueprints or plans; each cannon build is unique in its own way, no two are the same. Fellow veteran? let me know! I was employed by Uncle Sam in the USMC as a 1371 Combat Engineer (1992-2000.) My time is limited and cannon building takes time and patience. Due to this, I only build a few cannons per year and try to keep several of the popular smaller firecracker cannons in stock- I suggest planning well ahead if desiring a cannon for your July 4th BBQ. Available cannons can be found in my shop. If you have a specific request, I will design your build & quote ASAP and can usually complete most cannon builds within 3 to 4 weeks’ time.
